SSTAAR Trek: Charting the Course from STAAR to SST
The SSTAAR Trek video series guides leaders through the transition from STAAR to the new State of Texas Student (SST) assessment with learning videos for each core content area (Math, Reading Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies). SSTAAR Trek helps leaders understand what's changing and translate their STAAR-era experience into a clear plan for SST, identifying what to keep, what to adapt, and what's genuinely new so teams can carry forward their strongest practices instead of starting over.
audience: Campus leaders, content and curriculum leaders, and teacher leaders who are responsible for guiding others through the transition from STAAR to SST. This series is meant for those leading the change, not just learning about it.

Learning Video 1 – Know the Course: What’s New and Why
A focused look at what’s changing with SST (what’s confirmed, what’s still emerging, and why) for a clear, current picture to guide conversations on campus or in the content area.
Learning Video 2 – Chart the Route: From Item Complexity to Instructional Insight
Using lead4ward’s item complexity framework, we’ll walk through released STAAR item examples to show the range of cognitive demand levels within a standard. Then, we’ll connect those levels to the state’s forthcoming Range Performance Level Descriptors (RPLDs) for SST, giving leaders an evidence-based starting point for instructional planning.
