A new test is coming and while there will be some significant changes…there are also some things that never change! What have we learned from previous state assessments and how can we use that to strategically inform our instructional leadership? Changes in the assessment system are generally received with stress and uncertainty, so in this session, we will explore lessons learned and the specific strategies that directly support the cognitive demands of the TEKS, including:
- what we know and still need to know about SST
- what students need to find success with the thinking and demonstration of learning that will be required in the next generation of assessment
- a simple, highly engaging routine that helps learners with both content knowledge and the cognitive processes necessary for success
- a plan and timeline for professional learning of the new assessment
